Wilma Lee (Davis) Miller

Wilma Lee (Davis) Miller was the sixth child born on 24 Jan 1933 in Greeley, Colorado, to William Harley and Bertha Adaline (Henderson) Davis. She passed away on 24 Feb 2020 at about 2:30 in the afternoon due to complications from a stroke.

She grew up on a farm in Greeley during the Great Depression. Times were tough, but they always had food. Her family moved to Milwaukie, Oregon, sometime in the 1940s. There was a school teacher in Oregon who wanted to see what Colorado was like, and Wilma’s family wanted to know what Oregon was like, so the two families decided to do a house-swap. She married Richard Westley Miller on 11 Jul 1953 in Portland, Oregon. When they were first married, they lived in a logging camp in Alsea, Oregon. Richard later became a policeman and earned his way to captain for Multnomah County Sheriff Department. He passed away 18 Aug 1990, one week before retiring. Wilma was employed at Woodland Park Hospital in the emergency department as an admission clerk. She later transferred to the billing department. She retired in the early 1990s.

Wilma liked to travel, go to the movies, and entertain friends and relatives in her home. She hosted several grandchildren at her home in Portland, during summer vacations. Each grandchild has their own special stories of their time spent with their grandparents, too many to write about here.

Richard and Wilma were the parents of four sons, Mike, Scott, Rick, and Glenn.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings – Orin, Mary, Earl “Dutch”, Betty, Ralph “Lefty”, Hazel “Bunzie”, and Theodore “Teddy”; and two sons – Mike and Rick.

She is survived by two sons, Scott (Cheryl) of Bend, Oregon, and Glenn of Alaska. She leaves behind ten grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Krista, Melissa, Amanda, Michelle, James, Sarah, Alex, and Mitchell; 17 great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy,  and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of Wilma’s life will be postponed until the summer of 2020, due to the recent lockdown of public gatherings.
