Wayne Milton Laing

July 02, 1941 – March 24, 2026

On March 24, 2026 Wayne passed in peace at the age of 84, Wayne Milton Laing was born on July 2, 1941 in Hobbs, New Mexico.  He moved from Hobbs, NM to Longview, WA in 1952.  His grandfather (on his mother’s side) had a 640 acre ranch in Calder, ID, where he spent several summers there helping bring in the hay to helping patch holes roofing the barn with his brother.

When he was of age, he proudly joined the Navy and loved his time as a Seaman, serving on the flattop, USS Yorktown.

He met his wife Kathy in Portland Oregon. They married, and had their 2 children.

He then tried to sign up for mechanic school but they had no openings so he went to classes for engineer and began working for Boeing where he finished his career as an Inspector. He was quite the engineer building many things for personal use from both metal and wood. In his later years, he enjoyed making mini-mailboxes that he loved to share with his family.

He was very proud of his family. He loved his neighbors, and his church family and friends.

He loved Huckleberry (especially loved sharing the jam) Garage sales, sharing his navy book, telling stories and jokes, funny t-shirts, camping, fishing, Dairy queen runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, supporting church charities, going on long drives-especially to Montana.

No one could have a conversation with him without him joking with you somehow. There was always love and laughter when he was around. He will be tremendously missed.
