Verbena Sue Coulter, age 75 of Oregon City, passed away on April 2^nd, 2017. Verbena was a registered Native American with the Muscogee(Creek) Nation. Verbena was born in Clarmore, Oklahoma on May 12^th, 1941. She was the daughter of Buster Bean Burgess and Nora Wind. Verbena attended the girls school in Oklahoma until age eleven until she moved to Oregon with Buster Burgess and Step mother, Wisey Burgess. Verbena had two adopted siblings, her sister Lajeannia Burgess, and brother Timothy Burgess.

In 1957, Verbena was married to Kenneth W. Beatty Sr. There were three children born during this marriage. In 1960, Verbena married Fred Coulter. During this marriage, four children were born.

Verbena was a stay at home wife and mother.  During this time, she furthered her education by taking various classes and became certified as a medical assistant.

Verbena was a very thrifty and crafty individual. She loved thrift stores, enjoyed sewing, crocheting quilts, knitting, and embroidery. She also loved gardening, humming birds, camping and family gatherings. She was a collector of music boxes, dolls, humming birds, precious moments, and anything Native American. Verbena will be remembered by her amazing cooking and specialty meals. She was a deeply spiritual woman who loved life, her family, children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She also dearly loved all her pets, and was especially attached to her dog Samsung and cat Romeo.

Verbena had a heart of gold and was always helping those in need. She was a very charitable person, always donating to a different cause. Among these she supported were: St. Joseph’s Indian Schools, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, ASPCA for animals and many more. Verbena also supported children internationally to help them pursue their education.

Verbena was proceeded by her parents, Buster Burgess and Nora Doyle, daughter Elizabeth F. Beatty, and Fred A. Coulter. She was survived by her children: Kenneth W. Beatty Junior, Kena M. Frye, Susan E. Coulter, Fredrick E. Coulter, Roberta D. Palmer, and Shawna L. Wolfer. Her grandchildren: Nicole, Jandra, Tony, Brandie, Kelly, Andrea, Freddy, Kyle, Christina, Tristin, Shelby, Tanner, and Kaiden. Great Grandbabies: MeKenna, Varity, Ryder, Dannon, Nicholas, Alora, Orlando, Alice, and June Verbena.
