Suzanne, You made up stories for me about the adventures of a little girl named Ruby. You were creative. You pierced my ears when I was twelve. You were bold. You let me listen to your records of Simon & Garfunkel, Bette Midler, Barbra, and the Bee Gees (before they were disco). Your tastes were eclectic. We ordered strawberry pie at Big Wheel Restaurant for ourselves, and ice cream cones at Dairy Queen for Mandy and Brandon. You liked to share dessert. You recommended I read “Lord of the Rings”, but it was above my head. You had faith in me. You moved far away. And then you moved farther away. You were a mystery. Memory is so we can have roses in winter. Roses will always remind me of you. Your Baby Sister
