Susan was a sincere, passionate advocate to the students she supported and empowered during her tenure at MHCC. I’m an honored and was grateful that our life paths crossed. Her health struggle was long and yet her spirit guided her along her journey. Rest In Peace, Susan

Susan was one of my first friends when my family moved to Portland midway thru my third grade year. She made me feel welcome. As third graders we raced one another on our bikes and our feet. I always lost but she made it feel like it wasn’t important who won. We just raced for the joy of being free and 8 years old. I’m sad I lost contact with her when I left Portland. She will always be a part of my sweet childhood memories. So precious to know good people and she was one of the best. May you be well Susan. Your friend, Rand.

I remember Susan as a beam of joy and optimism as she volunteered in the Sitton school classroom of her niece, Carrie. Susan’s patience and encouragement helped not only the students but also Carrie and me as new teachers.

Susan has always been a candle of peace, a giver, the gentle listener, hand holder, as so many were on their own trails, she was with them. Her guidance was a pillar of energetic support that helped so many people thrive, including me. I am a better human for having been her friend. Although tiny in stature, she was mighty in the intention of the highest good for all. Susan is forever in my heart and earthly experience. I’ve asked her to please be on my spiritual Team of Light (TOL). Susan was a “pearl” in this life; songs by MaMuse speaks so lovely about this “Pearl” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKGeo7dKF6w and about a life lived as a “Love Poem.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdZ2g5EiQ2c

Returning from the abyss: 1. Susan was the embodiment of curiosity, leading to a boundless love of learning, which propelled her to genuine understanding. Plus love for the Natural World. 2. She also was the embodiment of logic & reasoning dispelling predudice. Such an admirable trait! 3. Finally, she embodied good humor & FUN, binder and balance to the above. 4. 61 years a friend. Since age 15 to 76. What a blessing for which I am eternally grateful. 5. My sincere coldolences to her WONDERFUL, LOVING, FAMILY. Margaret Holman

Farewell, my beloved cousin. Our condolences to the family. Susan and I had so many fun conversations and she was so much fun to tease. I remember her teaching me how to ride her old bike in the store parking lot. I nearly killed her trying to learn. She was so patient and enduring, running along side and trying to keep me upright. I also spent many hours sorting bottle in the back room with her and Col. I love you and will miss our chats and your encouragement.
