July 12, 1990 - October 9, 2022 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Shannon R Loter, 32, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away Sunday, October 9th, 2022, at PeaceHealth SW Hospital after a week long fight for her life in the Intensive Care Unit. She had a phenomenal team of doctors and nurses in charge of her care, and they did everything that they could and more to save her, but God called her home Sunday evening, and she was surrounded by family as she passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus. Shannon was born on July 12, 1990, at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon to parents Laurie and Randy Loter. Shannon grew up in Southeast Portland until the age of 14, when her family moved to the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver, Washington in 2004. She attended Skyview High School and graduated in 2008. Shannon had a passion for photography and went on many spontaneous adventures with family and friends to capture the beauty of nature. She was an avid music lover, and collector of Beatles and Cher memorabilia, she was a talented rock painter, and paranormal enthusiast. Shannon was much loved for her quick wit and sarcasm, her contagious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit. She hardly met anyone who was a stranger, which went as far back as childhood when Shannon went to Klineline Pond one summer with family, where she innocently invited an intoxicated transient to come home and have dinner with them and Mom had to quickly intervene! With a gift for gab, and the timely one liner, Shannon brought warmth and laughter to everyone she encountered. She also had a gift for storytelling, and could turn a mundane experience into a vibrant, vivid, and often hilarious tale. She worked in retail for over six years and felt that she could better utilize her gift of human connection through the hospitality industry. Shannon loved working at the Fairfield Inn and enjoyed a great camaraderie with her co-workers and customers. Shannon’s favorite place on earth was Manzanita, a cozy little beach town off the Oregon Coast where her grandparents, Donna, and Del, had bought a house in 1975. The entire Loter family and close family friends spent many summers together for the 4th of July participating in the yearly parade and had large Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Shannon was very fond of the memories made there and had said she felt most spiritual there. Shannon was preceded in death by her father, Randy Loter; her mother, Laurie Loter; her brother, Randy Christopher “Bo” Loter; paternal grandparents, Delbert, and Donna Loter; maternal grandparents, Robert, and Jackie Bryan; her Uncle Craig Lampe; and the family dog, Zoe “Baby Shark”. She is survived by her sister, Chelsea Loter, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. The family of Shannon Loter wants to thank the caring and supportive staff of the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at PeaceHealth SW Hospital for their impeccable care towards Shannon. We think of you every day with profound gratitude and awe, thank you is too small a sentiment to truly express our gratitude for all you did. You made Shannon your top priority and went out of your way to make our family feel comfortable during each visit. It gives us much needed peace about her passing that she was given the best care possible at every moment. A celebration of life will be held at the Residence Inn Marriott Hotel, 1250 North Anchor Way, Portland, Oregon, on Sunday November 6 at 1pm with a reception to follow. All who knew and loved Shannon are welcome to attend. Shannon L. Loter
