Sandra Lee Bottomley was born in Denver Colorado on September 18, 1947 with the maiden name of Sandra Lee Benson. She was raised by her mother Flora Freeman and father Albert Freeman. She has 2 brothers Don Benson and Albert Freeman and 2 sisters Cindy Freeman and Debbie Wiens. Her family moved from Denver to Portland Oregon where they ran a small café. When she was 17, she was a waitress at the café when she met the love of her life and husband of 48 years Lloyd Bottomley. He took her to Canton Grill Restaurant and a drive in movie where he proposed during the Winnie the Pooh cartoon in between shows. They were married on April 23rd 1966 at the courthouse in Oregon City. They went to Cannon Beach Oregon on their honeymoon.

In June of 1972 they adopted their only child Christopher at the age of 18 months. The family moved around the state before settling in Portland in 1974. She decided to make being a mother her full time job where she dedicated her life to making sure the home was taken care of and that her only child was cared for. Her love for family and friends was endless. She was an extremely caring woman who spent every moment with her family.

Holidays were her favorite time of year. She was known throughout the neighborhood for going all out with decorations and goodies. Her favorite holiday of all was Christmas where she would decorate the house from top to bottom leaving no stone unturned. Everyone would stop by and look at the hand painted holiday windows and admire all of the work that she put into it. After Chris graduated from Parkrose High School in 1989, she decided to go to work with family friends in the restaurant sales industry. The company was English Northwest Marketing. After years of working with the English’s, she went to work with her husband in the family business, Professional Restaurant Repair where she worked until 2014. She was known by all who called the office to be a ray of sunshine on the phones and always enjoyed the people she worked with. Lloyd was the owner operator of his own repair business for over 38 years and she was a big part of his success.

In her spare time she loved spending time with her husband, son and grandchildren. She loved vacationing with Lloyd at the Oregon Coast. One of her favorite places was Florence where they loved to walk the beach, hold hands and read. One of Sandra’s dreams was to visit Hawaii and in 2000 Lloyd surprised her with a trip to Kauai. In 2004 the whole family went back to Kauai to visit and is still one of our fondest memories. Her passion in life was her family. In 1986, one of Chris’s best friends, Chris Wilson came to live with the family. He was quickly accepted as a second son and has been known as C2 ever since.

Every weekend you could find Sandy and Lloyd at one of many friends’ houses playing cards. These friends became lifelong friends who spent many years celebrating life. Whether it was the Gregory’s, the Day’s, the Beecher’s, the Coopers, the English’s, the Kuhn’s or the Naff’s it was a great time. When it came to music, she had an obsession with Elvis Presley. She had every movie, video and CD made and when she needed a little boost to her day, she would blast Elvis on the CD player to Lloyd’s dismay which she always got a kick out of. Some of the things she enjoyed were cooking, baking, decoration and Bunco.

In 1994 her son married what she called her favorite daughter in law; Lisa Naff. She of course was her only daughter in law. She always mentioned that their wedding was one of the most memorable days of her life.

In 1997 her life changed forever. That was when her little cutie pie was born, Alexis Bottomley her granddaughter. She again spent at least two days a week watching Lexi and spending any moment she could get with her. From then on she built an amazing bond with Lexi that will hold a special place in Lexi’s heart forever. In 2000 her life would become even sweeter as her grandson Logan was born. Her little buddy. She could never get enough of her grandchildren. Whenever she was having a bad day her face would light up when she was with her grandchildren. Lloyd always said they were her recipe for happiness. She was an extraordinary woman who had an endless passion for her husband, son, daughter in law, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and friends. Family was the most important thing in her life and nothing ever came in the way of that. She was a true lady in every sense of the word. She will be sorely missed by all.

Sandra is survived by her son Chris Bottomley and wife Lisa, her grandchildren Alexis (Lexi) and Logan Bottomley, her second son Chris Wilson, her brothers Don Benson and Albert Freeman and her sisters Cindy Freeman and Debbie Wiens.
