Ruth Evangeline Clark Hull was the seventh child born to Charles and Ethel Clark on April 28, 1936 in Bismarck, North Dakota.–

Ruth, a dark-haired beauty, was hard working, a magnificent seamstress and an accomplished roller dancer.-At the age of 17, she met and married Robert Leroy Buchanan, beginning their family in North Dakota with Linda, Pamela “Penny”, and Robert, before moving to the Northwest and adding Maureen to their brood.-Shortly after moving to Portland, Bob and Ruth divorced but remained friends until his death in 1983.

In 1972, after several years raising 4 children as a single parent, Ruth married Wade Hull blending their two families and adding Sherry, Nancy and Patricia “Jody” to her roster of children.-She adopted many of her children’s spouses’ family members and friends as her own as well.

Over the years, Ruth worked as a waitress, hostess and jewelry sales person in addition to being a wife, mother and later, grandmother and great-grandmother.-With a passion for baking, crafts, flower arranging, cake decorating and sewing, she was always busy.-Halloween costumes, pajamas, clothing, blankets, doll clothes, ornaments, ceramics, jewelry and painted wood trinkets were all made with great skill and lots of love for her children, grandchildren and friends.-Her penchant for sweets kept her busy in the kitchen, but she also loved to read, browse through cook books, keep a tidy house and spend time with her family.-Ruth collected elephants, bells and decorative plates.- Over the years, Ruth gave of herself by helping others through personal service for charities, such as a local “clothes closet” for needy families, as well as sewing and donating clothing for pre-mature babies at a number of local hospitals.-

Ruth lived to see her children marry, which blessed her with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.-Sadly, Ruth and her family lost Wade in 2005.

On May 28, 2015, at Emanuel Hospital, Ruth took her last breath on earth surrounded by her children and her first breath wrapped in the loving arms of a Father-in-Heaven welcoming his precious daughter home.-She is survived by her children: Linda Oliver (Bob) Pamela “Penny” Fowler (Tom) Bob Buchanan (Stacy) Maureen Horst (Dan) Sherry Chenell, and Nancy Hull (Alex Koch); her grandchildren: Ryan Oliver (Tonia) Adam Buchanan (Kristen) Stephanie Ouellette (Nick) David Koch, Theresa Davis (Shea) Taylor Bingham (Dillion) Amber Koch, Christopher Oliver, Sarah Horst, Zachary Buchanan, Grace Horst, Jacob Buchanan, and Lucas Buchanan; her 11 great grandchildren; her Honorary children: Patty Reder (Steve) and Lynn Davis; as well as her sisters Peggy Nyberg and JoAnn Moore.

Ruth is preceded in death by husband Wade Hull, daughter Jody Hull, grandchildren Andrew Buchanan and Jason Oliver, 10 siblings and her parents.

She is greatly loved and will be affectionately remembered in our hearts forever.
