With great sadness, the family of Ruth Gruetter announces her passing on October 29^th at the age of 88.

Ruth, born in North Dakota, the thirteenth child of Philip and Katherine Rieger, is lovingly remembered by her husband of 68 years, William B. (Ben) Gruetter, daughters Linda Aanderud and husband Mark, Chris Davis and husband Randy, son Bryan Gruetter, Michelle Gruetter and six grandchildren, Suzanne, Geoffrey, Dawn, Rachael, Ashley and Justin.  She was predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters.

After high school, Ruth received a license in cosmetology, and for decades she beautified hundreds of women, first in Portland beauty shops and then at her home. She also graciously served a number of organizations, including 4-H, Snowcap, the Election Board, as well as serving as secretary of Zion United Church of Christ and President of Gresham Women of the Elks.

A memorial service in memory of Ruth will be held on Thursday at 3:00 pm at The Omega Funeral Home at 223 S.E. 122^nd Ave., Portland, Oregon 97233, with Pastor Eric Lange officiating.

In-lieu-of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Ruth Gruetter.
