Ronald Reece Vining passed away on January 10^th, 2018 in his home in McMinnville, Oregon with his family by his side.

Ron was born on October 22, 1933 into a large loving family.  “Little Ronnie” spent his early years on the homestead near Five Rivers, Oregon.  The family later moved to Carlton Oregon.  He there met the love of his life, Elnora.  Ron joined the US Coast Guard in 1951.   His courtship of Elnora included church, dancing, fast cars, and a few beers.  With the approval of his commanding officer, Elnora and Ron’s parents, they were married on May 10^th, 1952.

Ron and Elnora raised three children, Debbie, Jan and Greg while living in McMinnville and later Portland and then Salem, Oregon.  Ron provided well for his family by working at I.B.M.  He retired in 1987 and enjoyed travelling with Elnora, wintering in Arizona and becoming a grandfather and great grandfather.  He was affectionately referred to as “old coot” by his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Elnora, brother Marvin, sisters Wilma and Reta, children Debbie{ Henry}, Jan{Lee} and Greg{June} along with six grandchildren Jani, Jason, Jessica, Claire, Matthew and Ally and six great grandchildren and one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fidella and George, sisters Pearl, Vera, Betty, brothers Quay, Charlie, Tommy and grandson Nick.

Funeral services will be held at St. James Catholic Church– 1145 NE 1^st St.- in McMinnville at 1 PM on 01-20-18  followed by a reception at Rock of Ages Community Center – 15600 SW Rock of Ages Road, McMinnville, Oregon.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Omega Funeral and Cremation Services.

Ron will be interred with military honors at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery.
