Ronald C. Pauly died April 29, 2012, at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Bertha Pauly. The middle of three boys, Ron was raised in Beaverton, attending Beaverton High School enjoying football, track, and Young Life. Ron attended Lewis & Clark College on a four year scholarship, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Counseling. He later earned his Master’s Degree at Lewis & Clark in education and recreation for the Handicapped. Ron met wife, ValDene Briscoe through Young Life. They were married Oct. 3, 1959, after ValDene graduated from the School of Nursing at Providence Hospital, Portland. They settled in Portland where Ron taught in the Reynolds School District and in Clackamas at Sunnyside/Happy Valley Elementary School. An active member of Portland First Church of the Nazarene, Ron enjoyed many hours on building projects, evangelism, and helping others. He loved reading books, the outdoors and flying planes after earning his private and commercial pilot license. He also enjoyed his pen and ink hobby replicating old houses and buildings. He is survived by his wife, ValDene (Briscoe) Pauly; children: son, Douglas; grandchildren, Ryan (Erin); great-grandchildren, Payton and Nathan, Katie McLennan (Cameron), Philip; son, David (Becky); grandchildren, Garrett and Matthew; daughter, Heather Kish (Patrick); grandchildren, Colby and Abby; youngest son, Brent; brothers, Sherman, (Jeannie), Steve, (Cotton) and their families; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Durham (Jim); and niece, Lynn (Randy). He had many relatives and friends. He was husband, dad, brother, grandpa and friend to many and will be missed so much. But we know he will be singing «It is well with my soul» through the ages.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at East Ridge Church, 14100 SE Sunnyside Rd., Clackamas, OR.
