Ron was born in International Falls, Minnesota on April 19, 1937 to Emil & Mildred Mai.-They moved to St. Johns, Oregon in 1944, where he lived and went to school.-He attended Benson Polytechnical School from 1952 to about 1955.-Ron then joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956 to1960 on the U.S.S. Forrestal aircraft carrier as a machinist mate.-In 1957 he married Diana Phillips and they had 2 children, son Doug and daughter Kelly.-After the navy he worked for the Shell Oil Refinery and then in 1965 he worked as a fireman for the Port of Portland International Airport.-In the 1980’s he purchased a fishing boat and spent the summers commercial fishing with his son in Garibaldi, Oregon.-He lived in Sandy, Oregon from 1968 to about 1986 and lived in Depoe Bay, Oregon from about 2000 until about a year ago, coming to Portland.-He loved fishing, hunting and the beach.-Ron also spent many years in his spare time doing auto body restoration to a perfection.-He loved music and played the guitar and violin by ear, and in his early years played the violin together with his sister Marilyn in the Portland Junior Symphony.
– Survivors include: companion Mary Lambie, son Doug Mai, daughter Kelly Parker, sisters,Arlene Plummer, Donna Haseleu, Sheila Homdrom, Gini Snavley, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
