Carpenter, Ray Melburn May 23, 1944-August 29, 2015
Ray, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at home in Seaview, Washington surrounded by his family. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Shortly after, he joined the United States Air Force. As an avid fisherman and boat owner, Ray enjoyed many hours in the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean fishing with family and friends. Later in life he became an artisan knife maker, forging his own blades and creating handles with intricate scrimshaw images resulting in beautiful one-of-a kind knives. Ray enjoyed displaying his craft at various knife shows around the Northwest. Ray was always happy and ready with a humorous joke. He will be remembered for his love of life and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ray is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, sons, Solon, Kowan, Keigan, Kyle, Kelly and daughter Joanne, adoring granddaughters Madison and Zoey, sister Nancy, (Ned), brother Tim (Judy), nieces Marritt and Taylor, nephew Carter and his loving dog Sonny.
