Mitchell “Mitch” Flane Reed

1969-2020

Mitchell “Mitch” Flane Reed was born on February 20, 1969 to his parents Matthew Reed and Twila Walker in Astoria, Oregon.

Mitch was raised in Emmett, Idaho where he spent much of his time with his grandpa and grandma Walker. He loved his time in Idaho and was known to have many mischievous fun adventures with his brother Jim. His childhood helped to shape him into the man that we would all come to know and love. Mitch would “walk through fire” for his family and was a beacon of positivity for those around him. He strived to be the kind of dependable man that was always there for his friends.

Mitch was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins football team, often watching their games. He led an interesting and full life, which included being on the practice squad for the Chargers, being a body guard for Daisy Fuentes and Tom Hanks, and receiving his degree in political science.

His greatest love and passion was his wife, children, and family. He was with Melissa for six years and married to her since August 6, 2018. You could see the love the two of them had for each other. Mitch never failed to mention to anyone how in love he was with his wife and how happy his kids made him. His family was his dream come true and biggest joy.

Mitch was positive and thought the very best of everyone. It seemed like his purpose in life was to help and encourage all of his family and friends to be the best possible person that they could be. He left a hole in the lives of those he touched that can never be replaced.  After a brief illness and putting up a good fight, Mitch was called home by God on March 10, 2020 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Mitch was loved by all and he will be missed by his family and friends.

Mitch was preceded in death by cousins Brandon Soule and Kevin Soule; Aunt Byrdene Ripa; Grandparents Alvin and Lois Walker.

Mitch’s legacy will be carried on by his wife Melissa Reed; children Parker Reed, Jacob Reed, Madisyn Reed, and Ashton Reed; Parents, Twila Schmidt (Steve) and Matthew Reed; Siblings, Cindy Reed- Tenny, Cassie Reed, James Reed; Aunts, Bonnie Soule, Nadine Smith, Evelyn Bogle; Uncle Flane Walker along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

From his wife, Melissa:

Mitch Reed, I know you loved me with all your heart, because yesterday you were fighting a good fight, but as I watched, you told me it’s time. My heart is breaking but I will be just fine, for you are with me till it is my time, love you always, and know that I am fine.
