January 1, 1970 - January 1, 1970 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Many family members and friends have paintings done by Mary who demonstrated a wonderful artistic talent.-She went to painting classes for many years and has friends from those classes. Mary enjoyed genealogy.-She amassed a four-drawer filing cabinet and a book shelf of genealogical research related to the Yarbrough, Tyrrell, and Durant families. Linda, is now keeper of such family research.-She was also an avid gardener.-Her appreciation of native wildflowers took her on many road trips where she was able to enjoy and photograph them in their natural surroundings.- After some time of serious medical setbacks, Mary sold her home of 60 years and moved to Powell Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care.-Mary lived in the assisted living section for nearly a year and a half before matriculating to the memory care section.-Mary was knows as the “hello” lady.-As she motivated the hallways using her walker she called out to each passerby and room, “hello!”-She was a favorite among the caring staff. Please share your happy thoughts with Linda and Barbara. They will appreciate your thoughtfulness in helping heal their grief.

We will miss the wit, wisdom and candor of Mary “Mom” Durant.-She was an inspiration of resiliency and life determination.-Her memories will include her husband, Calvin and her dear companion of many years, Allen Pew.-She was a fun loving neighbor during the childhood of Linda and Barbara.-For a number of years she brightened the day for various chosen few who were allowed to grace her home: Cindy, Kathy, the “church ladies,” her handyman, Gary, Marci Hope, and others naming a few.-Mary was a practicing Christian and had a long term membership with Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
