July 4, 1941 - August 17, 2017 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends She died Thursday 17 Aug 2017. She was born on Friday, 4 July 1941, in Vacaville, Solano Co., California. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dean E. Wilson, son of the late Joy S. Wilson formerly of Nampa, Idaho and the late Mary Eurilla (Mecham) formerly of Nampa, Idaho. She is the daughter of the late Frank W. Gundestrup formerly of Napa, California.and the late Elaine (Hiatt) formerly of Napa, California. Karen was proceeded in death by two sisters, Clara Juree (Gundestrup) Stoddard of Napa, California and Gwen I. (Gundestrup) Harris of Visalia, California,. Karen graduated from High School in Napa, California. She also attended Napa Junior College. She was invited to stay with her favorite Aunt Fern Murdock in Boise, Idaho. During the young adult activities, she met Dean Wilson, whom she loved to dance with. They were married 30 Dec 1961 in the LDS Los Angeles temple. Their first home was in Homedale, Idaho. Her husband taught math and science in the local high school. After four years, her husband accepted a Physics teaching position in Portland Community College. Although with a young family, she enjoyed traveling with him while he attended many colleges & universities around the country. Karen loved to read religious, history and genealogy books and magazines. She was very successful in learning and doing genealogy work for her English, German, and Danish ancestors. She was always reading the scriptures having them being replaced because of much use. Karen served for many years with the LDS youth in Primary, Cub Scouts, and Scouts. She faithfully worked fourteen years in the Portland Oregon temple. Her husband worked with her for her last seven years in that temple. This was a very special and enjoyable time to work together in that important service. She loved the out-of-doors, especially the gatherings and reunions of her family and relatives. She loved to ride often up the Columbia River gorge. Her favorite was the gathering with family at the beach in Lincoln City each year, where they celebrated her birthday on the 4th of July and enjoyed the fireworks in the evening. All, including her grandchildren, as well as Karen have many good memories of these good times. She could not of been a better wife, companion, & mother. She learned well how a well ordered home should be conducted, cleanliness and good meals. What is right was always what came first. She was a product of the correct principles she learned in her youth. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dean Ervin Wilson, son of the late Joy Sylvester Wilson formerly of Nampa, Ada, Idaho and the late Mary Eurilla (Mecham) formerly of Nampa, Ada, Idaho. Karen Marie is survived by four children, Brent Ervin and his wife Kelli Sue (Bleichner) of Vernal, Utah, Frank Edward of Portland, OR., Christina Marie Zoller and her husband Robert Foster Zoller of Gilbert, Arizona, and Todd Evan and his wife Shanna Marie (CARTER) of St. George, Utah; three siblings, Gwen Irene (Gundestrup) Harris of Visalia, California, Grant William Gundestrup and his wife Marilyn (Carver) of Hurricane, Utah, and Carl Frank Nielsen Gundestrup and his wife Ronda Lee (Steeneck) of Riverton, Utah; six grandchildren, Jena Lynn White and her husband Austyn White of Orem, Provo Co., Utah, Jason Robert Zoller of Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona, Benjamin Dean Wilson of Vernal, Utah, Alex James Zoller of Gilbert, Maricopa, Arizona, Joshua Dean Zoller of Gilbert, Maricopa, Arizona, and Spenser Dean of St. George, Washington Co., Utah; two G granddaughters, Maci May WHITE of Orem, Provo, Utah, and Molli Maxine WHITE of Orem, Provo, Utah. G grandson, Breagyn Brent of Orem, Provo, Utah. Karen Marie was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Juree (Gundestrup) Stoddard of Napa, Napa, California; four grandparents, Christen Nielsen Gundestrup of Nevada, Iowa, Karen Marie Amalie (Westergaard) Christensen of Fairfield, Solano, California, Joel Walter Hiatt of Vale, Malheur Co., Oregon, and Clara Matilda (Keele) Hiatt of Vale, Malheur Co., Oregon.
