Johnnie David Thomas

Johnnie David Thomas of Portland, OR died October 18, 2021 at the age of 62.  He was born October 25, 1958 in Eugene, OR to Charlotte Ann Shaw and Albert Laroy Petersen.

He is survived by his Significant Other of 24 years, Virginia Petersen; a daughter Amy Lynn Nichols-Thomas; 3 sons Johnnie David Thomas Jr., Rockiey Alan Banks and Carter Andrew Banks; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  He is also survived by 10 siblings; a brother Allan Roy Petersen; 3 half-brothers Allen Richard Petersen, Orrin Delbert Wade Thomas and Jonathan Wayne Petersen; and 6 half-sisters Teffani Shawn Andrews, Janice Marie Hill, Marilyn Kay Hill, Arlene Francis Waite, Tina Marie Petersen and Nancy Lee Glenn Taylor; 1 uncle Harold Lars Petersen; 2 aunts Sharon Crowson and Arletta Nicholson.  He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Jason Thomas; a sister Lauresa Diane Albin; a half-brother Timothy Albert Petersen; and 2 half-sisters Brenda Joyce Downard and Carol Ann Ansell.  Johnnie was raised in Orick, CA.  He joined the Navy in 1976.  After leaving the Navy he lived in California, Louisiana and Oregon.  He moved to Portland in 1996.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and volunteering in his community.  Johnnie was loved and will be missed by many.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30pm on November 18, 2021, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR.
