JILL L. SMITH

March 4, 1949 – February 16, 2021

Jill was born to Harold and Lorraine Axten, in Los Angeles, California, on March 4, 1949, and died February 16, 2021. She attended Redondo Beach high school, graduating in 1968. In 1971 she married Nick Smith, and shortly thereafter they moved to Salem, Oregon, where their daughter Karon joined the family. Jill spent time in her early career working as a medical assistant and later spent many years as a cake decorator. She was known throughout the community for her volunteerism and generous spirit. Jill was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color from the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and a Member of Honor of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #43.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold. She is survived by her mother, Lorraine, brothers Greg and Steve, sister Donna, husband Nick, daughter Karon, Son-in-law Todd, and grandchildren Kylie and Tayvin.

A celebration of life for her friends and family will be held in July of 2021.
