Jeffery «Jeff» Lee Potter, 43, of Fairview passed away in his home on September 14th, 2016.

Jeff was born on December 26th, 1972 and raised in Roseburg, OR. He attended Roseburg High School and later went on to higher education at Umpqua Community College and Linfield College where he studied Psychology. Jeff spent time in Guatemala learning Spanish and put his language skills to good use throughout his career. Jeff married and he and his wife had a daughter together in 2007.

Jeff served in the US Coast Guard from 1991-1996 as a Rescue Swimmer, LE Boarding Team member, and Small Boat Crewmen. He worked as a campus supervisor at Aloha High School and Barlow High School where he coached basketball, softball and baseball. Jeff was a Reserve Police Officer with the Portland Police Bureau, and joined the Troutdale Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 2006. In 2007 Jeff was hired full-time by the Troutdale Police Department where he served as a School Resource Officer, Firearms instructor, Field Training Officer and was an active member of East Metro SWAT. Jeff was sworn in as a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Deputy in July of 2015, and became a volunteer dispatcher for the Trauma Intervention Program in June of 2016.

Jeff had a strong Christian faith, he loved God, and was very active in his church community. He loved spending time with his immediate family and cousins. He enjoyed skiing, cross country dirt biking and was known for making people laugh when they were having a bad day. The most important part of his life was his daughter, Amari, 8. He spent every moment he could with her and attended as many of her life events as possible, including taking her on a Disney Cruise, enjoying her first year of softball, and taking her roller skating.

Jeff is survived by his daughter, Amari, his brother Joey, sister Fara, and his parents, Joe and Mary Potter.

Services will be held at 1:00pm on September 30th 2016, at Crossroads Community Church located at 7708 NE 78th Street, Vancouver WA 98662; and on November 5th 2016, at Faith Family Fellowship located at 1643 Jackson St. Roseburg, OR, time TBA.
