July 23, 1949 - June 28, 2026 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Jane A. Miller was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She attended Woodstock Elementary and graduated from Franklin High School where she was an outstanding athlete and student. While a student at Portland State University Jane competed on the Basketball and Field Hockey teams and threw the javelin for the Track Team. After College Jane taught at David Douglas High School for thirty years and made many friends, especially the FF’s. During her teaching career she coached volleyball, basketball, softball and track and field. After successfully coaching volleyball Jane became a referee for the Greater Portland Volleyball Association and helped train other o?cials. She had the opportunity to o?ciate at the state level and was admired for being a very consistent and fair o?cial. Along with her partner she loved to travel and see many di?erent states and countries and was blessed with the opportunity to see the “moon shine on the other side of the world”. Later in her life, Jane was an avid geo-cacher with friends and relatives. She was a very competitive person and always wanted to be the first one to find the cache! She had many relatives that she enjoyed spending time with and thoroughly enjoyed watching the great-nieces and great-nephews become adults. Jane loved the out of doors and spent many years camping in a tent or RV. She even caught a fish or two. She loved playing cards or dominoes and loved the time spent with close friends playing poker. Jane Miller will be missed by so many. So when you see a turtle, think of Jane because she was “just a girl who loved turtles”. Jane’s Celebration of Life will be held August 8, 2026 at the Milwaukie Community Center from 1-3:00 pm.
