Harris and Evelyn believed in living simply and giving generously to others. Among the Vancouver organizations they supported were the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Planned Parenthood.
Harris is survived by his son, David, of Atlanta, and daughter, Diane Waggoner, of Portland, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2pm on Friday, October 9, at the First Presbyterian Church of Vancouver.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Dusenbery Fund for Environmental Education and Research at Reed College.

Harris Dusenbery died on October 4, 2015, after a wonderful 101 years. He was born in Roundup, Montana, on February 26, 1914. He moved to Portland in 1926 and later attended Grant High School and Reed College. He enjoyed a happy marriage to Evelyn from 1940 until her death in 2008. He served in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during WWII and returned home to serve in the Social Security Administration and founded the office in Vancouver in 1950. After retirement in 1970, Harris and Evelyn traveled extensively to over 50 countries. They later became urban pioneers and were original residents of the Heritage Place condominium by Esther Short Park.
