Gregory B. Howell

Gregory was born in Chicago, Illinois and passed away June 11, 2017 at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital in Clackamas, Oregon.  He was raised in Portland and attended Beech Elementary School and Graduated from Jefferson High School.  While at Jefferson High School Gregory worked for Oregon Department of Transportation on the survey crew in Beaverton.

Gregory had a full and busy work history.  He moved to Montana and worked as a custodian in a high school, he then came back to Portland and worked for Plaid Pantry on North Greeley and was also a Teacher’s aide at Fernwood Middle School.  He volunteered at Mt. Hood Community College in the video department.  He then moved to Spokane, WA worked for a video company. When he moved back to Portland he took a position at Portland Community College, Cascade Campus, as a Computer Lab Coordinator.  He enjoyed helping students learn how to use the computer, and to get their assignments accomplished.  One student became his best friend when her assignment was accomplished with Gregory’s help and encouragement.

He is survived by his mother Blanchie Howell and his father Sam Howell.  Also mourning their loss are his sisters: Adrienne, Beverly, Karen and Rachelle and his many family members and friends.

Gregory has the gift calming you down when your anxiety level was rising and you needed to think straight.  He had a good sense of humor, loved all types of jazz and enjoyed people.
