January 11, 1933 - December 12, 2017 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Gladys (Stephenson) Wade. 30-year resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away with family at her bedside on Dec. 12, 2017. She was born in Flagstaff. KS on January 11, 1933 to Elmer and Viola (Alt) Stephenson. Gladys lived in Idaho before moving to Columbus, IN where she met and married Alonzo Wade. In 1959, the family moved to Yakima, WA where Alonzo was a carpenter and she worked as a cook for many years before retiring. Gladys was also a member of Avon and was President of Washington State Chapter for the Huntington Disease Society in the Yakima area. She and her family loved fishing of all kinds. Later; when the grandkids came along, they spent many hours at grandma’s house. She loved baking pies, cookies and cakes for them to eat. When her kids were young, all the kids in the neighborhood knew when she was baking. All you had to do is follow the smell to her kitchen. She was mom to all. Holidays were filled with good food, family and friends. You never left her cable with an empty stomach. She loved to travel in her later years. Gladys and her daughter traveled co Germany and Hawaii, two of her favorite places to see. She loved to read. She also played basketball as a young girl. Her son. Larry and grandson, ‘Junior followed her in love of basketball. Gladys is survived by her children: Kathleen Gravitt of Dawsonville, GA. Larry Wade of Cle Elum. WA and Lurenda Wade of Vancouver, WA 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; I great-great-granddaughter, Kaysi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Wade; her parents; 2 brothers; and 6 sisters. A memorial will be held in the Yakima area in April 2018.
