July 14, 1947 - May 26, 2021 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends In the early morning of May 26th, 2021, Ernest Richard Fogle passed away at Cornerstone Care Option in Portland, Oregon from a combination of COVID, Pneumonia, and Parkinson’s disease. In his final moments, his loving wife and children were at the facility on a daily basis to help him pass in peace. Ernest was 74 years old. Ernest was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on July 14th, 1947. He was the fifth, of seven children, between Lloyd and Marie Fogle, and he had four brothers and two sisters. After high school Ernest decided to serve his country by enlisting in the Air Force. He completed 4 years as a Staff Sargent. Ernest met his soul mate, Sheryl Zak, when he was 24 years old right after he got out of the Air Force. Sheryl often says that from the moment she met him, she knew she was going to marry him. They dated for almost three years, before they became husband and wife on July 26th, 1974. They would go on to have three beautiful children, Eric, Cindy and Nathan. He was a hard-working devoted family man who lived a full life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Ernest was a man that was always there with an outstretched hand to help, especially family. While he was stubborn in his beliefs, he was always the one saying that “family comes first”. It was said by his daughter, Cindy, that Ernest was a man of “no shits”. A truer statement could not be made. He imparted to his oldest son, Eric, that to lose with grace was just as important as winning with humility. He was the all-star baseball coach to his youngest son, Nathan, where he taught him to work hard and never give up. Through his years as a baseball coach, he helped countless boys learn hard lessons, and to be solid young men. Anyone who knew him, was impacted by him. He was so proud to be a grandpa to his five grandchildren! His life was fulfilled by spending time with all his grandkids by coming to their activities, educating them about history, taking them on rides and just being able to tease them in his loveable way. Ernest is survived by his wife, Sheryl Fogle, and his children, Eric Fogle, Cindy Rounds, and Nathan Fogle. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hannah Bowlen, Lucas Rounds, Callie Rounds, Ruby Fogle, and Payton Fogle. Ernest was a loving father, a stout husband, and someone to be admired and looked up to. Ernest was buried in Willamette National Cemetery on June 15th, 2021. Today, Tomorrow, Forever….we will love you!Ernest R. Fogle
