Edith Marsha Moore Hughes (otherwise known as Edith Marshamellow) passed peacefully at the age of 99 on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011. Born in 1912 in Eugene, Edith attended the University of Oregon, where she became one of the school’s youngest graduates. She married her college sweetheart (the kindest and most charismatic man in the universe), Howard Harris Hughes, in 1934, and remained happily married for 65 years.

She is survived by her loving children, Carolyn and Hugh; her granddaughter, Sabra and her wonderful chosen family, the Gorslines and Kricks. Her brilliance and unconditional kindness will be dearly missed.

Service will be held at Village Baptist Church Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at 3 p.m.
