Dorothy Lynn Herbst

December 20, 1950 – December 3, 2020

Our Dotty passed away Dec. 3, 2020 from Alzheimer’s disease at Emerson House in Portland surrounded by her children. Dotty was loving, caring and genuine to all who knew her. A kind word, genuine smile and a shared laugh delighted her.

Dotty was born to Erle and Elizabeth Webb of Lake Oswego. She graduated from Lake Oswego High School in 1968. Dotty was carefree, traveled and saw the world during her years after high school. In 1974, she married Randy Lamont of Portland, having one son, Darren. She remarried in 1980 to Gregory Herbst, having two children, Joseph and Kristen. Dotty worked as a bookkeeper for several firms in the Portland area her entire adult life.

Dotty’s children were the focus of her life. She was devoted, loving, and generous to her entire family. She loved music, dancing and playing the piano. She gardened, crafted and read voraciously. Many idyllic days as a child and adult were spent at the family beach home in Ocean Park, Washington with family and friends.

Dotty is survived by her children, Darren (Hillary) Lamont, Joe (Jenny) Herbst and Kristen Herbst; grandchildren, Alexander, Levi, Henry and Hailey; sisters, Betsy, Marjorie and Janice and her much loved nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the Emerson House caregivers for their loving care of Dotty the past 5 years.
