David Jeffrey Earnest

David Jeffrey Earnest of Portland, Oregon passed away at Providence St. Vincent Hospital while undergoing emergency surgery for a heart related condition. Davey was 64 years old.

Davey was born on Johnson Air Force Base near Tokyo Japan. Davey was the first born son of David E. Earnest and Sue A. Earnest.

Davey was a lifelong Oregonian at heart, but traveled extensively around the world, born in Japan, started high school at Samoana High School in Pago Pago, American Samoa and graduated from South Eugene High School, Eugene, Oregon in 1976. Davey traveled to New Zealand, England, Saudi Arabia and Mexico as well as living and working in New York, New Mexico, Nevada, California to name a few.

Davey’s hobbies included all things electronic and computer, industrial arts and manufacturing as well as repairs of computer peripherals and components. Davey was an avid reader of novels in the sci-fi, historical, technical and obscure genres. Davey loved all animals, but was a cat person and is survived by Bubba and Rowdy who miss him terribly. He raised Rowdy from a newborn that vets had written off due to Rowdy’s premature birth. Davey nursed him to full health, currently weighing in at 24 pounds.

Davey loved on-line gaming with friends and family. Davey was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and was a member of several Information Technology Development organizations, and life time National Geographic Society. Davey spent a short time in the US Air Force and was medically
discharged.

Davey was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arthur Milton Young and Neola Otto Young of Coronado Shores, Oregon, and his mother and father. Davey is survived by his sister Lisa Talbott, brother Michael Earnest and sister Valaree Earnest, friend Herbert Hagebusch and family, Andrew McClure and family, James Keegan, Paul Lisle, Mike Marlatt and his children, Autumn Gray, Stephanie Weatherford, Matthew Earnest and Breanna Earnest. There will be no services performed. Perhaps keep Davey in your thoughts and prayers in the years to
come.
