Darlene Marilyn Steigleder (Henrietta Hauge)

May 7, 1941 to October 20, 2019 age 78.


Darlene was born in the small town of Big Timber Montana as Henrietta Hauge the daughter of Henry Hauge and Marian Hauge.  Darlene was soon joined by her sister Marlene Hauge (Miller) and years later her baby brother Marvin Nelson.   Her family moved several times over the years from Montana to Spokane WA, then The Dalles and finally to Gresham Oregon.  She was a long-time resident of Milwaukie Oregon and Welches Oregon.

Darlene met her husband Paul Steigleder while taking swimming lessons at Haven pool.  He used to joke that she held his head underwater until he asked her to marry him.  They were married May 21, 1959.

Paul and Darlene had four children Elaine Steigleder, Paul Steigleder II, Luanne Steigleder and Nadine Dody. Paul and Darlene’s Children were raised in Born and raised in Portland Oregon and later the family moved Milwaukie. Paul and Darlene had a successful shoe store in Milwaukie for several years. Darlene was also a long-time real estate broker in both Oregon and Arizona   Darlene was a lifelong learner taking several college classes, enrolling in a pottery class at Clackamas Community College this past year.

As empty nesters in 1986 Paul and Darlene moved to Welches Oregon where they lived for 30 years. They also spent several years as snowbirds wintering in Sun City West Arizona. Paul and Darlene where blessed with six grandchildren; Paul JJ Steigleder III (Odessa), Brittany L. Dody, Leif J. Steigleder (Rachelle), Brek J. Steigleder (Lindsey), Jenna L. Steigleder and Madison N. Dody. They also had eleven great grand children; Sage Carter, Taylor Steigleder, Noah Steigleder, Isaac Steigleder, Emma Steigleder, Nolan Steigleder, Grayson Steigleder, Lyla Steigleder, Macy Steigleder, and Willa Steigleder.

Darlene enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, pottery, painting and gardening.  Her family has several of her works of art. Darlene was a recent resident of Vineyard place where she faithfully tended the gardens there.

Darlene passed away after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. Darlene passed away with her family members by her side.   She fought with a cheerful outlook and positive attitude.   Darlene will forever be remembered by her smile.    Darlene was reunited with her husband Paul J. Steigleder I, daughters Elaine Steigleder and Luanne Steigleder in heaven.

Darlene was survived by her Son Paul and Daughter Nadine.
