May 29, 1983 - December 1, 2024 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends It is with great sadness we share that Carly Anne Lackner—mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and beloved community member—passed away on the afternoon of December 1, 2024, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital after suffering a stroke a few days earlier. She was surrounded by family and given an honor walk for her selfless decision to become an organ donor. Born in Hettinger, North Dakota on May 29, 1983, Carly was the first child born to Jude and Terry Bullinger. Five years later, she became the older sister to Evan. Carly‘s life was cut short, but what she lived was full. She attended Dickinson State University in North Dakota, where she met and married her husband, TJ Lackner. They moved from North Dakota in 2004 to support TJ’s graduate school education and eventual career in Astoria, Oregon. Carly lived out her dreams of serving her community as the owner of 3 Cups Coffee House, as well as becoming the loving mother to Mags in 2010. In 2020, she was able to retire and be around for Mags and TJ for many years. She had recently started a second career as the Clatsop Community College campus store manager, though she was happiest when she was baking, hiking with her dog and friends, and spending time with her husband and daughter. Carly’s kindness and laughter are two of many traits she will be remembered for. Her mother shares that Carly, who as a child liked to be known as She-Ra, Princess of Power, “came into the world in a rush, and left the same way. It’s the in-between that changed all our lives forever. We are better because she was here.” Her husband and daughter remember her cozied up with them on weekends, book in hand while she enjoyed their company. Friends remember her for her listening ear and hilarious wit on long walks or while baking scones together. Her loss will reverberate through the community and those who loved her forever. All of these events and memories encompassed parts of who Carly was, but though she was a talented baker, avid reader, and beloved human, the sum of Carly can never be put in words. There wasn’t a space on Earth that wasn’t made better by having her in it. She was preceded in death by her father and beloved dog, Scout, and leaves behind her daughter Mags, husband TJ, brother Evan, sister-in-law Shawna, mother Jude, dog Louise, and many more people who loved her. A celebration of life for Carly will be held on December 21, 2024, from 1:00 to 5:00pm. The service will take place at Clatsop Community College’s Patriot Hall and is open to all who wish to say their goodbyes and support the family in their loss. Donations can be made to support funeral and medical expenses by contacting Margaret Antilla at Clatsop Community College at mantilla@clatsopcc.edu or 503-338-2421. Carly A. Lackner
