Bobby Joe Keen Jr, aged 54, died unexpectedly from complications due to the flu and diabetes.

Bobby was born on June 13, 1962 to Bobby and Katherine Keen in Portland, Oregon.  He grew up in Southeast Portland with his older sister Norma, where he graduated from David Douglas High School in 1980.

A handyman and jack of all trades, he worked as a mechanic and as a construction worker for the light rail and sewer industries. He enjoyed talking and helping senior citizens during his time as a maintenance and assistant care giver. He also created delicious delights (his favorite oatmeal raisin cookies) as a journeyman baker.

At 16 he worked as a dishwasher where he met Robin. They dated, went to the prom and finally married in 1989.  A year later in October of 1990,   they had Travis and then along came Dillon 18 months later in June of 1992.  Bobby enjoyed being around his boys, whether it was at school or in activities such as baseball where he was their coach or as a leader in the Boy Scouts, watching them build and race pinewood derby cars. He would sit for hours on the bank of a river or lake filleting as many fish as the boys could catch.  He also had the knack to Wheel and Deal as in the case of trading a tandem bicycle for a 16ft Fishing Boat so that they could all go crabbing at Winchester Bay.

Bobby taught the boys how to work on cars, especially since he had owned over 70 vehicles in his lifetime. Or how to cook or BBQ a great meal since he said his wife could burn water.  He loved to visit the beach and the woods where he also loved to hunt for meat to fill the freezer or the park where he would throw the ball for his dogs

Bobby will be deeply missed by his parents Bob & Kay, Sister Norma, wife Robin, sons Dillon and Travis and his future daughter-in-law Alexandria.   His Aunt Carol and Uncle Ray, Brother and Sister-in-laws, Jimmy, Linda, Mike and Tim along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and all their families, adopted brothers, Chip,  Lawrence , Tom and Brad along with many other friends,

At Bobby’s request there will be no formal service but on Saturday June 10, 2017, starting at noon,   A Celebration of Life BBQ will be held at Blue Lake Park.  Please come celebrate Bobby’s life with us.
