Barbara Kay Harford

Aug. 15, 1950 – Nov. 14, 2019

Barbara Kay Harford, nee Price, 69, of Portland, Oregon, passed away at her home on the morning of November 14^th, 2019, after battling pancreatic cancer for nearly two years. She leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Bruce Edward Harford; sons Bryon Keith Adams-Harford and Bradley Edward Harford; daughter-in-law Cassandra Ann Adams-Harford; granddaughter Edison Aurelia Adams-Harford; sisters Rosemary Carr and Marilyn Price; and many close friends.

Barbara, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Neumuth) Price, was born in Oak Park, Illinois. In her lifetime, she also resided in New Jersey, Kentucky, and Oregon. She graduated from York Community High School, Elmhurst, Illinois, in 1968. Barbara worked for the U.S. Government in Chicago as a clerk, where she met and married Bruce in 1977. She subsequently worked in various clerical jobs in health care as well as a veterinary technician. At various times in her life she participated extensively in leadership and training in the Boy Scouts of America and Tae Kwon Do. Her love of animals led to many years of volunteering with the Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets (HELP) program, caring for countless lost and abandoned animals. She had a magnificent singing voice which she loved to share with others through many solo performances, various choirs and several community theaters. She also enjoyed photography and traveling whenever possible. She traveled with her family to multiple locations throughout the United States, as well as to Canada and Mexico.  She also had the pleasure of embarking on several cruises to islands and ports in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.

It was Barbara’s wish to be cremated upon her death, with her ashes to be scattered in several locations that she loved around Oregon. No viewing will be held. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 24^th, 2019, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 14175 NW Cornell Road, Portland, Oregon. A small reception will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family requests that donations be made in her name to a cancer research and/or treatment organization.
