February 8, 1929 - April 20, 2018 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Adele soon learned at an early age the need for all family members to help with family needs. Adele’s mother, Eleanor Knowles, was well known in Southern California as an equestrian, breading, breaking, training and boarding Thoroughbred Horses. During WW II Adele’s mother and father, Paul Knowles, worked in the shipyards as machinist, relying on the children to do many necessary chores at home. Adele became a very good cook and really knew how to iron, sew and keep a clean house! Oh and did we mention the horses? Adele loved all of her roles in her part of helping out. Her best friend was her horse, Judy! She would enter contest, often winning as a young girl well into her teenage years. She taught, Judy, how to shake hands with the Judge when she received her ribbons, much to the amazement of the Judges and spectators. She would also amaze spectators when she rode two horses at one time Standing Up on their backs! Always exceeding in art she became a well-respected interior decorator in California, Oregon, Washington, Canada and other places along her journeys. Adele studied Reflexology becoming a Reflexologist, gaining respect and appreciation from her many clients. For many years she was actively involved in Soroptimist. She became an ordained minister, always active in her local churches. Still later became a master food preserver. Needless to say she kept very busy helping all those who passed her way. Mother is survived by three children, Patrick D. Lawrence, Michele Ross and Peggy Hawkins. Grandchildren, Samuel Dapcevich, Sarah Frijlink, Glen Lawrence, Benjamin Lawrence. Great Grandchild, Annabelle Frijlink. And by her friend and companion, Milton Manke. At mother’s request she spent the last six months of her life with son, Patrick D. Lawrence, and daughter-in-law, Diana Lawrence. With the constant care, assistance and advice from the absolutely wonderful team of Providence Hospice. Mother received twenty-four hour care, always showing her appreciation & concern for all those around her. In addition she received daily in-home care from the many wonderful caregivers at SYNERGY Home Care. Mother passed away peacefully early Friday evening, April 20th, 2018, looking ever so forward to meeting her beloved Jesus in Heaven. Mother will be placed with her husband, Leonard F. Jones, at Willamette National Cemetery. There will be a private service. Memorials are suggested to be given in mother’s name to: Providence Hospice or St. Vincent de Paul.
