Ryan Farley

1983 – 2022

Ryan Joseph Farley, age 39, died on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his home in Portland, Oregon.

He is survived by his parents, Matthew and Karen Farley of New Orleans. Ryan was an avid skier, backpacker, and rock climber who loved music, his friends, and life itself. He was interested in meditation, philosophy, and Buddhist studies as well as the natural world and spent several years as an oncology nurse and hospice nurse helping others make the journey that he himself has now taken.

Ryan was a graduate of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, with a BA in philosophy, and Oregon Health & Science University school of nursing in Portland, Oregon, with a BS in nursing. He was deeply loved by his friends and by his family, who cannot now imagine life without him, although they know that the memories they gained from their years with him are so much deeper than anything death could take away. “From what we cannot hold the stars are made.” (W.S.
