Ronald “Ron” Owen Rhoades
of Albany, Oregon

December 26, 1950 – July 25, 2024

Late at night on July 25th, 2024, Ron passed away at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington with his youngest daughter by his side. Other close family comforted him prior to his passing. He was 73 years old.

Ron was born the day after Christmas in 1950 in Dallas, Oregon. He is the firstborn of Wynne A. Rhoades and Irene A. (Anderson) Rhoades. Wynne’s second wife, Jacqueline “Kaye” Rhoades, was also considered “Mom” to Ron.

Ron enjoyed building and working on just about anything including houses, woodworking, cars and trailers. These hobbies were also reflected in many of his occupations. To name a few, his occupations included millwright and maintenance in the wood and paper mills throughout Linn
County, Oregon and he once owned a welding business in Lebanon. He completed his working years at Target Warehouse in Albany, retiring in 2013.

Ron graduated from Lebanon Union High School in Lebanon, Oregon in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Navy directly after high school and served two tours in Vietnam before his discharge in 1973. He also earned a welding certificate through LBCC.

Ron is preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline “Kaye” Rhoades, life partner Betty Gambone, children: Karrie L. Spier; Jody R. Rhoades; Calvin W. Liffick (Tulena M. Lammers), Sarah M. Holgate (Jacob L. Holgate), and numerous grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings: David M. Rhoades, James L. Rhoades, Ted A. Rhoades, Jeffrey Rhoades (Nick Rhoades), Kari K. McRae, Joseph R. Lewis Jr and Susan L. Lewis.

Services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on August 6th, 2024 beginning at 1:00 PM.
