Rodney “Yogi” Eugene Squires

July 30, 1970 – September 02, 2024

Rodney (Yogi) Eugene Squires, 54, of Portland, Oregon (formerly Springfield, IL) passed away on September 2nd, 2024. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He had been struggling with heart Issues for the last few years.

Yogi was born to Lori and Pete Squires, who proceeded him in death. He was also proceeded by his grandparents Leroy and Mary Gorham and Demmon and Hazel Squires. His brothers Larry and Danny Squires, sister Sandra Squires, nieces Whynonna Caudle and Addison Steele.

He is survived by his daughter Haley Austin, his sister Laura (Jason) Conrad, his nephew Jordan Laschansky, his biological father Daniel Fischer, his bonus dad Paul Newberry as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends from all over the country.

We remember Yogi as a beacon of unwavering friendship and kindness. He has left an incredible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Yogi was such a free spirit. He loved animals, especially his dog Ellis Dee. He loved music festivals, camping, art, but most of all he loved making people smile.

He worked and raged at those music festivals; he followed the Grateful Dead all over the country. He was always a jokester, he lifted everyone around him, and he was the life of the party.

A celebration of life is in the works in the next few weeks, If anyone cannot attend from Portland, we will stream it live on Zoom.
