December 2, 1932 - September 23, 2025 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Before dawn on September 23, 2025, Robert John Neale (AKA “Bob”), ascended to heaven after an adventuresome life of 92.8 years! His last day on earth was spent with his oldest daughter, Tricia, holding one of his hands in the hospital room and his youngest daughter, Chrissy, holding the other hand from her recent home in heaven. The support and love from his Church, Family, Caregivers, Guardians/Angels, (on earth and in heaven), Hospital, along with Bob’s strong Christian faith gave him peace as he transitioned with Tricia and Simon (future son-in-law), by his side. Bob was born in Springfield, Eugene, on December 2, 1932. In heaven, he will join the Neale family of Robert W. (father), Echo (mother), Patricia L. (sister), Daniel (nephew), Chrissy (daughter), Lou (cousin/brother-like), Connie (Lou’s wife), Bill, Roger, Victor, along with Lee Downing, Leland Downing, and Wilma Lee. With linage back to the Spores family, he is survived by 1) the Neale family of Patricia (daughter), George, Madeleine, Chad, May, Sean, Momoko, Paul, Sigi, Belinda, Jackie, Debbie, Miko, Diana Lynn, and 2) by the Downing family of Kathy, Sandy, Jim, Aaron, Elizabeth, Stephanie, and many more Spores, including Mike and Sharon, 3) along with family by marriage of Jeanne, George, Cherie and Janice. His major accomplishments and memberships included Washington High School track relay team state championship and record, Air Force service, Stanford University undergraduate and law degree (on a full-ride scholarship), Lewis and Clark law degree, Presbyterian Church (Valley Community and Mt Tabor), Multnomah Athletic Club, Real Estate broker, Portland Royal Rosarian, and “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book editor for his daughter, Chrissy. He loved corvettes, the color blue, traveling internationally, road trips (especially, to San Diego to visit the Neale family), Spores’ family reunions, Sun River Resort, anchovies on his pizza, Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant, bogus nights (AKA Happy Hours), and giving away his rose applique stickers. Most of all, he loved people and really loved to share story after story. Then more stories! Wish we could hear just one more of his famous stories… Memorial Service Information A memorial service for Bob will be held at Valley Community Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11am in Portland Oregon.
