June 19, 1973 - August 19, 2024 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Born in Kokomo, Indiana, Ian was a presence in every community he joined, from his early years in Pittsburgh, PA, to his home in Portland, OR. Known for his vibrant personality and entrepreneurial spirit, Ian spent much of his career exploring diverse fields, including his most recent role as Regional Buyer for the West Coast at Maxim Crane Works. During his years in Pittsburgh, he also pursued his passion for woodworking through his own antiques restoration business in Pittsburgh. Ian had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. Despite his new life in Portland, Ian’s heart always held a special place for Pittsburgh, and he remained a steadfast Steelers fan through and through. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Ian loved exploring Portland’s city parks, often finding peace and inspiration in the great outdoors. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, generosity, quick wit, and the joy he brought into their lives. Ian is survived by his mother, Stephanie Sullivan and her husband Tom Current, stepfather Marcus Hermansen, sisters Sloan Spinks, Vanessa Wilson, and Lauren Wilson, niece Quincy Baloga, nephews Dawson Baloga and Luke Baloga, his aunt Janie Ingels, and many dear friends in Portland and across the country. A celebration of Ian’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, in Portland, with details to be announced soon. We invite all who knew him to join us in honoring his memory and the incredible impact he had on those around him. Ian would be humbled by the outpouring of love and support, yet he wouldn’t want his loved ones to dwell on his passing. As he would say, “Oh, for fuck’s sake.” That said, we will dwell. In lieu of flowers, and to honor his love of the outdoors and generosity to friends and neighbors, donations in Ian’s memory may be made to the St. Johns Food Share or the National Parks Conservation Association.
