Rev. Drennon P. Stepp

September 15, 1938 – September 24, 2025

Rev. Drennon P. Stepp died at his home in Portland, Oregon, on September 24, 2025, at the age of 87.

Drennon was born on September 15, 1938, in Black Mountain, North Carolina, to the late Ruth Marcella Stepp. Drennon graduated from Stephen Lee High School, Asheville, North Carolina in the spring of 1956. That same year Drennon enlisted in the United States Air Force serving honorably for 22 years, 10 months, and 25 days. He retired from the Air Force in the fall of 1979 as a Technical Sergeant. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous awards and citations. Drennon was stationed at various locations stateside and overseas, including Vietnam and Turkey.

Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Drennon served several years as the Executive Housekeeper at Fort Wainwright Army hospital in Fairbanks AK. He later relocated to California, where he was the Director of Housekeeping for NMI Management Services. While in California he committed his life to spiritual service, culminating in his ordination in the Gospel Ministry in March 1994. Subsequently, he moved to Portland, Oregon, and assumed a position as a Security Specialist at Kaiser Hospital. In this capacity, Drennon frequently offered words of faith and solace to both patients and staff.

Drennon shared all of his pursuits with his beloved wife, whether it was assembling puzzles or observing the hummingbirds in their backyard. He also had a passion for cultivating various types of hot peppers. Above all, Drennon’s greatest joy was his daily reading of God’s word, the Bible, and beginning each day in prayer for his loved ones. His favorite passage can be found in Acts 20:22-24.

Drennon’s passing was preceded by that of his first wife and the loving mother of his children, Sallie J. Stepp, who was a cherished part of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Stepp, with whom he shared a home in Portland, Oregon, and who brought him immense joy and companionship.

His legacy continues through his devoted children: Drennon P. Stepp Jr. and his wife Leonora, residing in Palmer, Alaska; Benita Stepp, who makes her home in Anchorage, Alaska; and Brenette Rundquist and her husband Mike, from Bothell, Washington. Drennon’s family extended even further, as he leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren, a testament to the love and connections he fostered throughout his time.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Willamette National Cemetery, located at 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR 97086-6937.
