May 19, 1944 - November 3, 2020 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Philip (Phil) Robins, 76, of Portland, Oregon, passed away due to complications from rapidly progressing dementia on November 3rd, 2020, peacefully in his sleep. He was in the hospital on comfort care at the time. Phil was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved with his family to Portland at the end of World War II. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1962 and later earned two associate degrees following completion of separate four-year apprenticeships. As a journeyman Stationary Engineer and Electrician, he worked at several local hospitals as well as in residential and commercial construction. He eventually decided on a hospital setting and worked in plant operations until retiring in 2004. Never one to be idle, he pursued odd jobs for several years before retiring completely. He enjoyed fishing for salmon and sturgeon, walking his dogs (he had several over the years), and visiting with neighbors while working in the yard or on his car, truck, and boat. Phil is survived by his second wife of 16 years, Jan (Model) Robins; his three children, Val (Robins) Hyde, Brian Robins, and Michael Robins; his six grandchildren, Tristan, Faith, Alex, Kate, Emerson, and Whitman; his brother, Tom Robins; and his first wife and mother of their children, Judy (Hooker Robins) Hefner. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. George M. and Mary (Kimbrough) Robins, as well as his brothers, George W. Robins and Marc Robins. There will be no funeral service due to COVID restriction limitations, but the family will host a memorial gathering at a later date. A private burial will be held at Lincoln Memorial cemetery. Phil lived his life with a servant’s heart and loved to lend a helping hand to those in need. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, please take some time to visit with a neighbor or perform acts of kindness to honor his memory. Philip L. Robins
