July 20, 1939 - April 24, 2015 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Paul was born in Stone Lake, WI on July 20, 1939. He was the first born of Della and Erwin Brauer. He was raised Catholic and had a very strong faith. He lived at, and worked on, his Uncle Ernie’s farm in Stone Lake, WI to help support his seven other siblings from age 13 until he graduated from Hayward High School in 1958. He played football in high school and continued to love the sport throughout his life. At age 18, Paul joined the Army National Guard. Paul and Colleen met in Seattle on a blind date in June of 1959 while Paul was there working with his family. They continued dating until Paul returned home to Stone Lake later that year. They exchanged letters for about a year and continued their relationship until Paul relocated to Seattle and proposed. Their wedding was on June 10, 1961. Two weeks later, Paul was called to Fort Lewis for the Berlin crisis and was honorably discharged a year later. Paul built his first home in 1964 in Brier, WA and was a finish carpenter for 40 years. Over the years, Paul and Colleen had four wonderful children- Theresa, Cathy, Paul Jr., and Jennifer. Paul has seven grandchildren- Krystal, Shawn, Nathan, Victoria, Joey, Kaitlyn and Grace, and a great grandson- Jaxson. Paul was a little league manager and also coached his children and grandchildren. Participating in sporting events was very important to Paul and he was known for going above and beyond to support not only his own children but also other Paul loved spending time with his family at the coast in Pacific City, OR, a place that became special to him and his family. Over the years, it became a tradition to spend time there with his family in places like Thousand Trails. After retiring in 1998, Paul spent a lot of time volunteering at State and National Parks along the coast. He also enjoyed wood carving, wood turning, playing cards, collecting Paul celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary in 2013. He loved people and fellowship and was loved by many. He was instrumental in bringing Celebrate Recovery to New Hope Church. He spent time visiting inmates to spread the word of god and help them on the path of recovery. Paul had a silly side and could always make you laugh. He loved fully, recklessly and with an open heart. He was selfless, hardworking and served god with all of his being. His faith became his greatest strength, even to the very end. He was loved by all who knew him and is now home with the one whoPaul Brauer Sr
