Nicholas “Nick” Wright

May 16, 1939 – April 24, 2024

PORTLAND – Nicholas “Nick” passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024 at the age of 84. Nick was born in The Dalles, Oregon, to LeRoy and Helena Wright.

They moved to Baker, OR where Nick and his brother Dave attended elementary and secondary school and where Nick met Genevieve “Jenny”, his future wife. Nick graduated from Baker High School in 1957, then went to Oregon State University followed by Eastern Oregon University in 1963. After Nick married Jenny, he served in the U.S. Army from1963 until 1966.

Nick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Genevieve “Jenny” Wright; son Brad Wright, wife Janet, and their daughter Eleanor of Milwaukie, OR; son J.D. Wright and Darci Budlong of Portland. Nick retired from the mining industry after 20 years working at Wagner Mining Equipment, having travelled the world to far off places like Russia, South America, Mexico, and more.

Nick’s pastimes included camping, fishing, painting, and golf. His later years were spent watching football, basketball, carracing, and the stock market. He also spent many hours listening to his eclectic mix of music. Nick enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with his immediate family, who loved him very much.

A private celebration of life will be planned following inurnment at Willamette National Cemetery.
