June 3, 2021 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Neva Fox died peacefully in Portland, Oregon on the afternoon of June 3, 2021 at the age of 94. Neva was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Joseph and Mary Mangogna, who had immigrated from Sicily. She spent her childhood in Iowa and moved with her parents to Portland when she was 16 years old. It was in Portland where she met her future husband, Sidney Fox. From that marriage, she is survived by three sons and their spouses, Gregory and Anne who reside in Maryland, Daniel and Karen who live in Arizona, and Steven and Mary in Oregon. Neva left behind 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s, the family lived in several towns in Oregon as the boys grew up. Later, Neva moved and resided in southern California for about 15 years, where she worked as a civilian employee of the US Navy. In 1991, she returned to live in Portland, where she cared for her aging parents before their deaths. Throughout her life, she would travel and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. An unforgettable highlight of Neva’s life was touring Europe on the back of a motorcycle as she saw the great cathedrals of Europe and connected with family in Italy. Raised during the depression, Neva lived a frugal, self-sufficient life enriched by her skillful hands, and her love of living things, both plants and animals. Neva appreciated art, music, the theatre, restoring furniture, cooking, sewing, and gardening.
