Michael Joe Schlinkmeier

April 8, 1948 – October 22, 2024

Michael Joe Schlinkmeier (April 8th, 1948 – October 22nd, 2024)

Mike Schlinkmeier, 76, of Oregon, passed away at home on the morning of October 22nd, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Corey Schlinkmeier for 40 years and will be missed greatly by those that knew him.

Mike was an Oregonian through and through, a dedicated employee, working his whole life in Oregon Previously working for the Teamsters at Ross Island Sand and Gravel and then 25 years working at Parr Lumber Company, where his strong work ethic and hands-on approach earned him the respect of his colleagues and customers. He brought that hard work home with him and it was quite common to find Mike in the garage in oil-stained blue jeans, knee deep in a project with his cars or boats. Though his hands were often rough and dirty from hard work, they were the hands that offered the best hugs.

Mike lived a full life marked by his passions and larger-than-life personality. A proud fisherman and hunter, Mike spent countless hours enjoying the wilderness and rivers of the Pacific Northwest. He shared that passion with his community dedicating years of service, along with his wife Corey to Kings for Kids: A former program connecting foster children of the PNW to time spent in the outdoors.  With his love of boats and hunting, Mike found new friends and adventures at a Sauvie Island duck hunting club and never tired of sharing stories of the outdoors.

Mike is survived by his wife, Corey; children Derek and his wife Debbie, and Kari and her partner John. His grandchildren and great grandchildren, Britny, Brittany, Hazel and Maeve. His Sister Pam and husband Dave, children Josh and Sabrina; and his sister Connie, husband Gregg, children Ethan, Cody, Alex and Erin. He was preceded in death by his parents (Iris) June Schlinkmeier and (Emil) Joe Schlinkmeier and sister, Toni Schlinkmeier.

Mike’s boisterous laugh and stubborn nature were trademarks of his personality. Whether in the woods, at home, or among friends, Mike was always unapologetically himself—and he will be missed for it. He will be forever remembered by all who knew him. A man of unforgettable presence, Mike’s absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will endure in the hearts of all who loved him.

If you wish to send condolences, please connect with Corey at their home phone 503-666-8775 as she does not text nor use email.  Corey hopes to plan a celebration of life in the spring when we can gather for a picnic and send Mike’s ashes out onto the river to join nature.
