January 1, 1948 - May 3, 2025 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Michael H. McCrea, lovingly known as Mickey, passed away on May 3, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished. Born on January 1, 1948, in Klamath County, Oregon, Mickey came into the world with joy — the first baby born in the county that year. The “H” in his name stood proudly for “Happy New Year,” a fitting start for someone who brought such warmth, humor, and hope to others throughout his life. Mickey lived a life marked by deep faith, service, and love. His Christian faith was a guiding force in his life and shaped the way he loved others, faced challenges, and found joy even in difficult times. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and his sense of duty and care for others continued long after his military service ended. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McCrea, and his daughters Molly Benjamin (Daniel), and Katie Keller (Mike) who carry on his compassion, faith, and sense of humor. He is also survived by his brothers John and Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice H. and Margaret J. McCrea, and his brother Jerry. An avid fisherman and hunter, Mickey loved the outdoors and found peace in nature. He had a natural gift for connecting with people and never met a stranger. His kindness, honesty, and ability to take care of others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Mickey was often the first to help others who were in need or crisis. For 34 years, Mickey lived with multiple sclerosis. He never gave up and became a passionate supporter and fundraiser for the National MS Society, as a way to combat the disease and spread hope. A celebration of life will be held May 17, 2:00 pm at the Johnson Center, Columbia Christian School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michael H. McCrea
