Michael “Mike” Bueal Payne

(1942 – 2025)

Mike was born in Seattle Washington on December 3rd, 1942 to Clyde Payne and Sarah (Briggs) Payne.

He passed away in Portland Oregon on June 14th 2025 at the age of 82. He is survived by his sister Trudi Simmons-Moss and was preceded in death by his brothers Ernie and Bob, and his sister Sally.

Mike attended Shoreline High School in Seattle Washington.

Mike will be greatly missed by his children Tony Payne, Brenda Adams, Matthew Payne, Mick Payne, Kim Payne, Christa Solis and Valerie Payne. He was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy Dean and his son Jimmy Payne. Mike loved being Grandpa to his nineteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. His is also survived by his first wife Marilee Payne and second wife Connie Payne.

He had a life-long passion for classic cars, loved cheering on the Seattle, and a sweet tooth for chocolate brownies. At the age of 12, Mike’s first job was cleaning bricks for a penny per brick. He said “I was really good at it.”

Telling stories of when he worked at Obertos in Seattle was one of his favorite pastimes, with Obertos beef jerky still being one of his favorite treats. After retiring from Freightliner in Portland, Mike cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In their younger years, he created lasting memories with his kids through camping trips and boating adventures.

Mike’s family will hold a private gathering to celebrate the wonderful times they all shared together.
