Melvin E. Bell

March 5, 1942-December 21, 2023

Melvin E Bell, 81, of Portland Oregon, passed away on December 21, 2023, of natural causes at his home. 

He was born at Olivet Illinois on March 5, 1942, son of the late Florence (Collins) and Milo Bell. He was preceded in death by his elder brothers John (Joyce) Bell and Charles “Chuck” (Boots) Bell and by his sister Maxine Bell. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Haurez, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Melvin “Bud” graduated high school at Westville High School in Westville, Illinois and soon after graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he served 4 years. He later moved to Portland where he was employed by and retired from Graphic Packaging Corporation after 37 years of service. His friends in Portland called him “Mel” and shared that he was very involved in his community Democratic committee and causes that were important to him.   

Melvin will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley Oregon.
