Melody Ann Buchanan

May 06, 1959 – January 14, 2023

Melody (Mea, Mel) Buchanan passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Portland, Oregon with her daughter, Adrienne, by her side.

Melody was born to Mark William Buchanan, and Lona Faith Buchanan on May 6th, 1959 in Burlington, Washington. The highly anticipated youngest of 4, Melody was given plenty of love and attention from everyone around. Her infectious sense of humor captured her audience from a very young age.

Melody had a gumption for life and enjoyed living it to the fullest. She loved sunshine, laughter, listening to music, long drives, her pets, swimming, bird watching, painting, the beach, the OCEAN, art, books and reading, spending time with her loved ones, and let’s not forget “an ice
cold can of Coke”

Many people may remember Melody as a goofy, fiery, fun-loving woman who was always down for a good time. She was also a warm, kind, compassionate, understanding, and accepting human that was always willing to take in a stray (human or animal), help someone out, and give back in any way possible. She loved being able to show love to others.

Melody is survived by her husband, Michael Kvistad, her daughter, Adrienne Armenta, her sisters, Martha Buchanan and Diane Tappin, her brothers, Mark (Cathy) Buchanan and Wayne (Mary) Jay, and many other beloved family, friends, and pets.

Melody was preceded in death by her father Mark William Buchanan, her father, Frank Jay, her mother Lona Faith Jay, and her sister Linda Latimer. She was greatly loved and will forever be in our hearts.

Thank you to the ICU, Palliative Care, and Comfort Care teams at Legacy Good Samaritan for taking such great care of us all. And a huge thank you to everyone that has helped us out monetarily.
