June 13, 1962 - August 21, 2024 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Mel was born June 13, 1962, in Portland, Oregon and died at age 62. He is the son of Luz Felina Aviles and Mel Ancheta, Sr. Mel is the oldest of three children. Mel attended George Atkinson Elementary on SE Division Street. He graduated from Franklin High School, and he finished his education at ITT Technical Institute with an associate’s degree in electronic engineering technology. As a young boy, he participated in the Rose Festival Parades and was an active member of the Filipino American Association. Mel enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, biking and watching sports from football and basketball to NASCAR. He also attended music festivals and concerts, as well as various events around the Portland area. He enjoyed listening to music, watching cartoons and being amazing at jeopardy. He knew how to play the piano and guitar and recently had taken up the ukulele. Mel worked in the brewing and bottling industry along with other various jobs, often in supervisory positions. He worked the annual Oregon Brewers Festival. Mel was an avid collector of beer paraphernalia as a respectful member of the brewing community. He loved giving out socks for Christmas presents every year. Mel was quiet but spread joy to everyone he knew. He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. Mel is survived by siblings Lori Lei Bautista and (husband, Steve Kerr), Richard Patrick Bautista, Auntie Felicisima “Sima” Felina, Cousins: Rodrigo Camacho, Felda Saunders, Orlando “JR” Labor, Rex Felina, Ray Felina, Renato Felina Jr aka JunJun, Ronald Felina aka RJ, Kristoperson Felina “JC”, Maricar Hong, Eliza Uhlenkott, Elmer Felina Jr “Junman”, Elmer F. Ovalles, Eric Felina, Alina Aviles, Rosemay Santos, Jomar Felina, Juby, Felina-Tamayo, Rhoda Felina, Alelie Felina, DenDen Felina Special thanks to Keith Johnson, Monte Landaker, Jake Chow, Pete Chow, Ray Krebs, Brandy Secord, Mark Smith, Julie Mikalson, and Dale Turnbull. He made a positive impact on countless people and will be dearly missed.
