June 15, 1988 - January 20, 2022 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Maxwell “Max” James Hunter passed away unexpectedly, on January 20, 2022 at his home in Portland, Oregon. Max was born on a sunny day in Anchorage, Alaska on June 15, 1988. He attended Rogers Park Elementary, Wendler Middle and East High Schools in Anchorage. He set off for California to attend college for graphic arts, but shortly was drawn to Oregon by friends in the Portland music community. Max followed many pursuits in Portland, but never a 9 to 5 occupation. He was part of the music scene, playing guitar in several bands, and provided lighting for several musical events. He put his artistic and entrepreneurial skills to work and began a graphic design print company and was the longest tenant at the “Tree House”. Max supported social change, and participated in doing so publicly. He spent time living out of doors during Occupy Wall Street and even induced friends to represent him at recent demonstrations when he was physically unable to participate. As a citizen of Portland, Max regularly donated his time and money to aiding people experiencing hunger and homelessness. Max will forever be remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit, deep analytical thinking, computer skills, interest in astronomy, philosophy and music as well as his zest for freedom of expression, apparent by his unique sense of style. Max is survived by his father Kevin and Kevin’s wife Kim, of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Samuel of Anchorage, Alaska; grandparents, Ronald and Joan Locke of Petoskey, Michigan; aunts, uncles, cousins and a family of close loving friends, including Justin Parsons, a friend from childhood to adulthood. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lei Ann (Locke) Hunter; grandparents Robert and Ellie Hunter of Boulder, Colorado; and Aunt Allison Hunter of Seattle, Washington. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Tributes and condolences can be made at https://omegaservices.com/obituaries/maxwell-j-hunter/1244/ Maxwell J. Hunter
