Mary Ruth Wells

November 3, 1926 – February 22, 2022

Mary Wells was born Mary Ruth Parmenter on November 3, 1926 and passed peacefully to be with her husband Verl in the presence of the Lord on the evening of February 22, 2022 at Milwaukie Providence Hospital after a brief serious illness. She was visited by daughter Charlene and grandchildren Robert Loffer and Jennifer Loffer just before her death.

Mary was born in Los Angeles, California and spent her teenage years and the rest of her life in Milwaukie Oregon. She graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1944 and shortly after went to work for the U.S. Purchasing Commission at Portland Air Base. She later went to work at First State Bank in Milwaukie, Oregon which is where she met her husband Verl. They were married in 1948. They had three children; Louise, Linda and Charlene. Mary worked at Dwyer Memorial Hospital in Milwaukie which later became Providence Milwaukie and also for Dr. Carl Stiff in Milwaukie as an office manager.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Verl and daughter Louise, and is survived by daughters Linda Loffer and Charlene Wells as well as son-in-law James Loffer; grandchildren Robert Loffer and Jennifer Loffer; and great grandson Cameron Andrews.

There will be a small private memorial service for Mary at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland where she will be placed with her husband and daughter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Guiding Eyes for the Blind or to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
